Practical checklist
- Meet in a public place and bring valid government-issued photo ID.
- Agree on price, included accessories, and condition before exchanging anything.
- Use a written bill of sale when you want a simple paper record—nothing on this site is stored on our servers.
- Do not ship firearms through Missouri Gun Trader; arrange lawful local transfers yourself.
- When unsure who may receive a firearm, or when federal law may require a dealer, use an FFL.

Use a licensed dealer when federal or state law requires it—for example, many interstate transfers—or when either party wants a dealer to run the transfer. Verify licenses with ATF eZ Check before you proceed.
Missouri resources
Many Missouri residents buy and sell firearms face-to-face within the state. Missouri statutes still define when a transfer is unlawful—for example, transferring to someone who cannot lawfully possess a firearm, to an intoxicated person, or to a minor without required consent. Federal resources
Federal law still applies. Transfers across state lines generally require a licensed dealer. Certain persons are prohibited from receiving firearms nationwide. When a dealer is involved, federal background-check rules apply through the FFL.
